Cross Country Ski Tours and the Yellowstone Yurt Camp

The Kitchen and Dining Room Yurts at the Yellowstone Cross Country Skier's Camp

Let us show you the finest way to experience a Yellowstone winter, at a cross-country skier's pace from the Yellowstone Yurt Camp. We invite you to join our small groups and experienced ski guides to explore the quiet and solitude of the Yellowstone backcountry. Our multiday cross-country skiing excursions are based from the comfortable Cross Country Skier's "Yurt Camp" located only one half mile from the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Our two large yurts serve as the social center of the camp, while guests sleep in their own private, heated, tent cabins. Transportation to the camp from West Yellowstone, as well as to trailheads within the park, is by tracked "snow-vans".

Our package excursions include ski guides, all meals, lodging (includes bedding and linens) at the yurt camp, xc ski or snowshoe rentals, and all snow-van transportation within the park.

From the Cross Country Skier's Camp, skiers can flat track the meadows of Cascade Creek, travel to several backcountry hot spring basins, xc ski the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, or telemark ski off the slopes of the Washburn Range. Join us this winter for great scenery, abundant wildlife, and some of the best snow the Northern Rockies has to offer.

Yellowstone Expeditions also offers backcountry snowshoe excursions and scenic snowcoach tours in Yellowstone National Park.

Snowcoach Tours and the Old Faithful Shuttle

Our snowcoach named Yancey

The National Park Service quits plowing the parks interior roads about the first of November. After the plowing stops, the roads become snow covered and impossible to travel with automobiles, so the only way to access Yellowstone in winter is by way of snowcoach, snowmobile, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. We offer daily snowcoach tours into the park to the Old Faithful Area or to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Area. Our snowcoaches are Chevrolet Express Vans with long tracks. The long tracks makes for the smoothest riding snowcoaches in the park, while keeping you higher up for better viewing.

Yellowstone Expeditions also offers backcountry snowshoe excursions and also photo excursions in Yellowstone National Park.
